Summer Strike (2022) - Pilot Episode Review: "I wish it could be more exciting."

"Summer Strike" is a little too simple in terms of drama for me, but I hope and wish it could be more exciting. This is ENA's newest drama offering, starring Seol Hyun in the role of Lee Yeo-Reum.

Lee Yeo-Reum is a young woman whose career and life are going well, but it is the same every day. She had been given a permanent job and has a boyfriend she adores. But work became stressful, and she suffered a string of misfortunes. Her mother died in an accident, and her boyfriend dumped her shortly after. She decides to quit her job because she is completely depressed and burned out.

This series, I believe, will remind us to work for ourselves and our own happiness. If the work isn't benefiting us, perhaps it's time to take a break and relax. When work becomes stressful, I always remind myself that during restdays, I should really help myself to enjoy it because I work not to die, but to live.

Even if it is stressful, some people continue to work because they need to, not because they want to. They either have obligations to fulfill or families to feed. During this time, it is critical to maintain our mental health in order to cope with and manage stress effectively.

Yeo-Reum relocates to a small seaside town. It reminded me of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, which I haven't finished yet. The main difference between the two was that this time the main lead girl chose to go to a small village rather than being forced to.

During the first episode, they showed a glimpse of the main lead guy, but it was unclear what role he would play in Yeo-Reum's life. It is also unclear how they will be able to meet and how they will make the story more interesting.

I am not a fan of this type of drama, but it was refreshing and relaxing to watch it on occasion. It was very true to life, particularly the lessons we can learn.

Lee Yoon Jung directed "Summer Strike," which was adapted from Joo Young Hyun's web-based cartoon series.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish this drama, but we'll see in the next episode if it piques our interest and we'll be able to finish it. The story supplementation will help me decide whether or not to continue. Based on the first episode, I'm going to keep watching this one. How about you what are your thoughts?
