The Forbidden Marriage (2022) - Series Review: "Made me laugh so hard."

This review is a little late, but here is my quick take on MBC's recently concluded drama "The Forbidden Marriage," which airs every Friday and Saturday and replaces "Fanletter, Please" in its time slot. And before we get into the exciting series "Kokdu: Season of Deity," let's start with a quick recap and review of this series.

Joseon's king is Lee Heon (Kim Young-Dae). His beloved wife died seven years ago, when he was a crown prince. He has not recovered from her death to this day. For the past seven years, the royal family and government officials have unsuccessfully attempted to remarry King Lee Heon. The country has also enacted a geumhonryung edict, which prohibits all single women from marrying during this period when the king has not married. People are outraged by the marriage ban. One day, King Lee Heon learns of a woman named Ye So-Rang (Park Ju-Hyun) who claims to be the spirit of the king's late wife and claims to be able to communicate with her.

Meanwhile, Ye So-Rang is a con artist who claims to be able to interpret martial harmony signs. She is arrested and imprisoned in the same facility where Officer Lee Shin-Won (Kim Woo-Seok) works. In order to escape her situation, she pretends to be possessed by a spirit in front of Lee Shin-Won. During her deception, she mentions the presence of King Lee Heon's late wife's spirit within the royal palace. She is then brought before the king, who asks her if she can see the spirit of his late wife. To survive, Ye So-Rang pretends that the king's late wife has taken possession of her body. Ye So-lies Rang's grow bigger and bolder.

Kim Young-Dae appears too young to be a King in my opinion, but he did an excellent job. Because Kim Young-Dae is younger, I believe he should be  or act first as a Crown Prince. That's why I regarded this historical drama as "young" in my pilot episode review. The vibe is youthful, with none of the heavy feelings associated with the Royal Family.

Park Ju-Hyun is also good in this drama. She did a good job portraying her character. She was the one who had me in stitches and made me laugh so hard. This drama is youthful and humorous, but it also has its own drama. But what really interests me is how it made me laugh as a viewer.

I agree with some of the comments I've read online that this drama script was a little bit poor or that the subsequent episode was not that appealing. The first few episodes were good, and the ending was also good for me; however, there were some parts that I didn't understand why they were there.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, and I still have the impression of a funny drama. Would I suggest it? Yes, if you also wanted to be happy.
