Black Out (2024)

In the gripping crime thriller "Black Out," the haunting past of Ko Jung-Woo (Byun Yo-Han) unfolds as he returns to his hometown of Muchon Town, ten years after serving time for the shocking murders of two female classmates. Now 29, Jung-Woo struggles with the trauma of his past, plagued by memory gaps surrounding the incident that changed his life forever. The bodies of the girls were never found, leaving a cloud of uncertainty and suspicion hanging over him. With a desire to escape the shadows of his former life, he plans to leave Muchon Town behind, but fate has other plans.

As strange occurrences begin to disrupt his attempts to move on, Jung-Woo finds himself reluctantly drawn back into the mystery surrounding the murders. His path crosses with Detective No Sang-Cheol (Ko Jun), an elite investigator whose life was shattered by personal tragedy. On the day of his wedding, his bride was brutally murdered, leading to a downward spiral that resulted in his demotion to the Muchon Town police station. Haunted by his own failures, Sang-Cheol sees Jung-Woo’s case as a chance for redemption and becomes determined to uncover the truth behind the cold case.

Adding complexity to the narrative is Choi Na-Kyeom (Go Bo-Gyeol), Jung-Woo’s devoted high school classmate who has long harbored feelings for him. During his time in prison, she remained his unwavering supporter, dreaming of a future together once he was released. As she attempts to help him reintegrate into society, her feelings for Jung-Woo become increasingly complicated by the dark shadows of his past.

Meanwhile, Ha Seol (Kim Bo-Ra) finds herself in Muchon Town by chance. Having taken a leave of absence from medical school, she embarks on a soul-searching journey across the country on her scooter. A chance encounter leads her to a part-time job at a local restaurant, where she becomes unwittingly entwined in the lives of Jung-Woo and Na-Kyeom. Her fresh perspective and adventurous spirit provide a stark contrast to the darkness surrounding Jung-Woo's past.

As Jung-Woo, Sang-Cheol, Na-Kyeom, and Seol navigate their intertwined fates, "Black Out" delves deep into themes of guilt, redemption, and the search for truth in the midst of chaos. With suspenseful twists and turns, the series explores the impact of unresolved trauma and the lengths people will go to find closure. Set to premiere on MBC on August 16, 2024, "Black Out" promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as it unravels the chilling mystery that binds its characters together.
