Reborn Rich (2022) - Pilot Episode Review: " Satisfying Twist of Fate"

"Reborn Rich," a new JTBC drama starring Song Joong-Ki, premiered last night. Yook Hyun-Woo, played by Joong-Ki, is the protagonist of the story. He works for the Soonyang Conglomerate family, and his main responsibility is to look after the family's members and their requests. He was a more like a servant until one day he was killed, and was reborn as a member of the Soonyang Family.

I can't say the story was unique because it reminded me of Lee Joon-Gi's Again My Life mixed with Yook Sung-Jae's recently concluded Golden Spoon. But I'm not saying they're the same; it has the idea of being reborn after dying and becoming wealthy. Though it reminded me of these two dramas, I must say that I like how the story flows from beginning to end, particularly in this pilot episode. It piques my interest and makes me wonder what he will need to do as part of the resurrection into the family.

This was probably my first Joong-Ki drama to watch. I'm familiar with Vicenzo, Descendants of the Sun, and Sungkyunkwan Scandal, but I haven't been able to watch them. Not because I don't want to. I always reasonably assume that one day , in the perfect time, I will be able to start watching those dramas. But Joong-ki delivered on this one.

Yoon Hyun-Woo, the character Joong-Ki portrays in this drama, was initially good, but when he broke his beliefs, his life became complicated, and he was killed. I admired his conviction and dedication to his work. I wish I could work as well as he does. Just a personal realization: I know I can't be as perfect as him at work, but I'd like to strive to be like him.

The pilot episode gives you a good idea of what the story is about. It gives you the idea and makes you desire more. Making you wonder what will happen to him or what has just occurred? We are all aware that those who have been given a second chance have a mission. This is one of my questions in this series: what will be his mission or purpose as a member of a conglomerate family?

The casting was excellent, and the plot provided a satisfying twist of fate. We'll find out in the next episode whether my questions will be answered or if the next episode will keep me hooked on this series. So, how about you? What are your feelings about this drama? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.
