Lee Goon (Kim Jae-Joong) was once a promising tennis player with dreams of greatness, but a career-ending injury shattered his aspirations and left him with a profound loss of self-esteem. In a bid to reclaim his life, he undergoes a radical procedure involving a memory eraser, which wipes away his past and allows him to be reborn with newfound confidence and presence. However, his journey takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that his manipulated first love, Kyung Joo-Yeon (Jin Se-Yun), is a psychiatrist working at a prestigious brain research center.
As Lee Goon navigates his transformed life, he must confront the complexities of love and relationships. His younger brother, Lee Shin (Lee Jong-Won), is the world’s number one ranked tennis player, adding further pressure and dynamics to the family. Meanwhile, Jeon Sae-Yan (Yang Hye-Ji), Lee Shin’s dedicated translator, becomes embroiled in the tangled web of emotions and ambitions surrounding the brothers.
Directed by Yoon Ji-Hoon and Kim Na-Young, and written by Jung Eun-Young, this romantic drama explores themes of identity, second chances, and the power of love to heal and transform. The series is set to air on MBN, with a total of 16 episodes scheduled to run from August 2 to September 21, 2024, every Friday and Saturday at 21:40.
MBN has made a name for itself by producing engaging dramas that often blend romance with emotional depth and thrilling narratives. Previous successful series include "Graceful Family," known for its gripping storyline centered around wealth and revenge, "Perfect Marriage Revenge," which captivated audiences with its themes of betrayal and retribution in marriage, and "Rich Man," which explored the intersection of love and ambition in the high-stakes world of business. With its compelling premise and talented cast, "Bad Memory Eraser" is poised to join the ranks of MBN's memorable dramas, appealing to fans of romance and character-driven narratives alike.
Author's Note:
This is my first take on this drama based on the first episode. The series features a solid plot and a diverse range of possibilities, especially in the field of science, where they explore the removal of trauma from individuals. The main lead's trauma is quite heavy, worsened by his perceptions, but what truly enriches the story is the care and support he receives from those around him. This theme of support is especially poignant in the finale of the first episode, where clips of people showing their concern for him really touched my heart.
Despite my unfamiliarity with the actors, I believe they all performed well in their roles. The female lead could benefit from a bit more effort, but the male lead and his family delivered strong performances that enhanced the overall experience.
