In Korean dramas, pain and regret are usually seen in the middle or at the end. However, in "Trolley," you would feel it in the pilot episode. Trolley is Netflix and SBS's newest drama offering. They're taking over the time slot previously held by Cheer Up.
The story revolves around Nam Joong-Do and Kim Hye-Joo, a married couple. Park Hee-son portrayed Nam Joong-Do, while Kim Hye-Joo was portrayed by Kim Hyun-Joo. The series begins with Kim Hye-Joo reporting the disappearance of her daughter to the police station. She explained that she had an argument and that when she went to check on her later that night, she was not in her room.
They showed the hours preceding it after that scene. Kim Hye-Joo works as a book center employee, repairing books. She had a schedule with a woman. Hye-Joo revealed that she had two children, one a boy who was already 22 years old and the other an 8-year-old daughter. The woman asked her which of the two she loved the most, assuming Hye-Joo loved her daughter more, but she said she loved them both.
Nam Joong-Do, Hye-Joo's husband, was a politician, a non-corrupt assemblyman who was well-liked by the public. Despite the fact that her husband is a politician, she did not tell anyone about it, and only a few people are aware of it, and those are people who have already seen Joong-Do. She didn't want anyone to know because she wants a simple and peaceful life. She never sought publicity or made an appearance in the media.
According to the internet plot, Hye-Joo has a secret that even her husband is unaware of. And, as a result of the case depicted in the pilot episode, which I'm about to reveal, secrets are beginning to emerge.
The case I mentioned in the pilot episode was the reported missing case of Hye-Joo's daughter, and the one they found in the river turned out to be his son. Yes, while searching for her daughter, they come across his son's body in the Han River. She was stunned because she had not expected her son to be the one found dead and her missing daughter to return home the moment, they discovered her son's body.
It was sad to see and watch that scene because you weren't expecting it. As a viewer, I was surprised. I had some questions about why the older son wasn't shown, and it turns out that her son was already living alone after he was released from prison. He was an ex-convict, which is why they fought the last time they saw each other.Hye-Joo then realizes what the woman in the bookstore told her that she loves her daughter more than his son the moment she found his son dead. Hye-Joo's emotions were regret and pain, and I, as a viewer, felt the same.
I'm actually perplexed by the first installment of the series. I'm trying to figure out what the story is about. Is it about the mother, a politician's hectic life, or a simple family with a non-corrupt politician? Because of how Joong-Do deals with people and his popularity, he may amass a large number of enemies. That's what I assumed the series was about. After reading the plot on the internet, it appears that it discusses Hye-Joo's secret, which I am eager to learn about.
As the pilot episode ends, a woman appears in front of her house, claiming to be carrying the baby of his deceased son. It's quite surprising that the pilot episode ends with more questions. I'd like to know if the son's death was truly an accident, and if so, what happened instead. What was the identity of the girl who appeared, and what was her relationship with Nam Ji-Hoon? Is there a revelation that she will reveal as the story progresses?
We'll see what happens in the upcoming episodes. For the time being, I believe I will keep watching because my curiosity is at an all-time high. And because it was at its peak, I'm hoping this series won't disappoint me. So, how about you? What can you say about Trolley's pilot episode? Did you like it or dislike it?
